Hey all!
I am so excited for spring! It has been a bear of a winter... I have basically had one healthy week since Christmas, and I know I am not the only one! The veterinarian in me pictures horse barns in winter, and poor ventilation, everyone breathing everyone's steamy air and ugh- everyone gets sick. Thank goodness for the turn of seasons! Open your windows and inhale some fresh air. Now. Dr. Fay's orders ??.
So how does all of this illness affect a vocalist? There are lots of bad words I could use right here... let's suffice it to say not good!! I am heading into the studio tomorrow to re-record the vocals on an entire song that we worked through a few weeks ago. Aaron (Zinsmeister) (producer/cowriter/arranger) was super patient and super supportive, but it just wasn't my best work. So back at it for me!!
Let me fill you in on the latest in my projects:
1. "SuperNatural": We did manage to get a really good vocal recording of this beautiful piece. Bassist Tim Perkins rocks Aaron's arrangement and makes music with his bass in ways that you have never heard! Stunning. This song is done! We are looking into a video option, because it is soooo cool. I plan to release this as a single early summer!
2. "Serenity": The very first song we have written for my "Gemini" project and the most chill of the tunes on this CD. It needs "SPOT ON" vocal acuity. This is the song we are revisiting tomorrow. I hope I can bring it! Other songs in the works for "Gemini" -- "Mystified" is next, followed by "Uncaged." Cool variety and super intense.
3. "Pheromone" Lyric Video: Just for fun and to establish a YouTube presence for this unexpected pop tune of mine, Aaron created a playful (?) or hot (?) lyric video. I am not really sure how to explain it- smoky (?). You will have watch later this week for a link to see for yourself!
4. Nominations:
- WAMI "Jazz Artist of the Year"- yay!! The WAMI Award ceremony is 4/15, and there are soooo many great artists being featured!
