“Let the night grow shorter, set the darkness aside
Frozen tears melt to water as the sun warms the sky..."
❤ "The Birch Tree" is out today! As passionate and poetic as are the hearts of two Northern European artists and one Wisconsin Gemini (that would be me!) is the rendering of this beautiful contemporary folk song! Please check it out using the links below!
❤ "The Birch Tree" began as a simple tune I wrote in mid-April of... 2015?? I was looking out my "studio window" (haha my bedroom window) in our cottage in Door County, WI, bereft at the lingering winter, snowflakes resilient in their spring ambush, cold and lonely...
“My heart is a birch tree that stands on it's own, surrounded by evergreens and snow covered stones...”
(BTW, "Winter Wind" was conceived the next year under nearly identical circumstances!)
❤ About 5 months later, during a song-writing collective, I had the opportunity to co-write with Dmitry Zaystev (Russia) and Martin Lorentzson (Sweden). We were throwing song Ideas out and for some wonderful reason, "The Birch Tree" is the one that stuck! And wow did those gentlemen breathe life into my simple tune!
❤ Our lonely, deciduous BIrch Tree went into dormancy for several years after that until about a year ago when Dimi (artist name Rhythmystica)asked me if I would be interested in releasing it as a duet with him. And so we did! And here it is, our first full on collaboration, recorded remotely across the globe, mixed and mastered in Moscow and now delivered fto your inbox or your listening pleasure today!
❤ Many thanks to Hans Christian (who is up for a Grammy THIS weeken, February 4 for Best New Age Album- "Ocean Dreaming Ocean"! Good Luck Hans!) for recording my vocal contribution for the song at Studio 330 in Sturgeon Bay, WI.
