From the album Falling
Music & Lyrics by Rändi Fay
On the road in the rain with my little buddy nappin’
If the windows were open, her ears would be a-flappin’
But the rain would come in and I don’t want that to happen
Cause nothin’s gonna dampen this fire in me.
On the beach in the wind with my little buddy chasin’
Sticks and stones in the waves, his heart must be a’racin’
And the waves are twice his size, his eyes grow huge at what he’s facin’
Oh nothin’s gonna dampen this fire in me.
Nothin’s gonna get me down,
I’m singing this song with my favorite hounds.
There’s light all around,
I’m takin’ my babies out of town,
to a place where the flame can sizzle and pop
and crackle and shimmer and never stop.
In the woods in the cold with my little buddy smilin’
Least, I’m pretty sure she is, his eyes are so begulin’
Full of joy just to be, though it’s freezing all the while and
Nothin’s gonna dampen this fire in me.
On the deck in the heat with my little buddy chillin’
Gotta stool for my feet, but she beat me to it fillin’
Up my heart with puppy-love, and though it’s hot, she’s not willin’
To let anything dampen this fire in me.
No wind, no rain, no sleet or snow,
No hundred degrees or twenty below,
Take a road-trip with your puppies to be in the know
That the joy of livin’ is the way to go.
