TRADITION- such a beautiful part of the holiday season: feeling the anticipation of familiar sights and sounds, and the comfort and joy of all of the wonderful memories they evoke.
I am joining the Dudley Birder Chorale for their Holiday Pops concert at the beautiful Weidner Center for the Performing Arts in Green Bay this weekend. This tradition for me is one of the highlights of my holiday season! Singing under Dudley Birder is a trip in itself! He is music embodied. I swear I have seen him tap 6/8 time with one arm and 5/4 with the other. That man has rhythm, but even moreso he has soul. He draws the entire 150 voice chorus into one striking, passionate and sensitive musical performance. The event is highlighted by the addition of the 100 angelic voices of the Birder Studio of Performing Arts. The show is spectacular, with lush carols and seasonal pops favorites. And truly, it is so amazing to sing shoulder to shoulder with so many singers whom I love. The experience of blending musically is so personal while at the same time so connecting. There is no room for holiday loneliness on the stage at the Weidner, or in the audience either!
The photo above is the view from the audience's perspective; below is a peak at what we see from stage. This photo was taken during rehearsal for the grand processional. Pretty cool, huh?
If you are in the area, please come share in the joy of the season!
