Hi and TGISunny!
It has been forever since I have been able to sit down and chat, with just about anyone. Life has been crazy busy, crazy amazing, crazy sad, crazy good- like a blender swirling around bananas and protein powder and spinach and whatever else- a crazy slurry of ingredients, some great and some not-so-tasty, but in the end it all sorts of works its way together.
One SUPER thing that I am excited to share is the filming of my new music video for my single release in August "Supernatural." What a day! Starting with a nervous, sleepless night before (video shoots are so far out of my comfort zone!!), being ready for a 7:00 am hair and makeup call with the ladies (what a blast!), to a sultry morning shoot at the luscious Green Bay Botanical Gardens, to a three hour break (DON'T MESS UP YOUR HAIR OR MAKEUP OR FALL ASLEEP!), to another shoot in the studio using a CYC screen (Cyclorama... "a curved wall used as a background of a stage set to suggest unlimited space." I didn't know what it was either!!), finally to a fun party after with margaritas, limes ;), chorizo, salsa, etc. - yum!
There are so many artistic and driven individuals behind the creation of this song and this video, starting with my ingenious co-writer, arranger and studio engineer Aaron Zinsmeister (White Raven Audio). Aaron arranged the music for this song almost solely for bass, but when you hear it, you won't believe it! Upright, electric and fretless basses all come in, along with hand percussion. Tweaks, twangs, thumps and a rollercoaster of notes- so many cool, cool sounds all performed by kick-ass bassist Timothy Perkins of "Unity the Band" notoriety. Also, in the video, you will love meeting gorgeous dancer Azure Hall, who creates a fantastically sensual interpretation of the seductive mood of "Supernatural." Director Jocelyne Berumen of Cyclops Girl Productions was patient, professional, proactive and inspiring (especially for me who has so little experience in this!! eek---). Her crew were ready to carry out so many background duties that no one really thinks about! All worked so hard and were masters! Here is a list:
- Blake McClellan as Assistant Director
- Kenton Barber as Camera Operator
- Edgar Berumen as Grip/Production Assistant
- Vanessa Alvarez as Set Photographer and Production Assistant
- Oscar Leon as Grip
- Sara Miller as Talent Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist
- Priscilla Varela as Talent Makeup Artist
I can't tell you how cool it is to work with such a professional production process. I continue to pinch myself that I am working in music at all! Something I never really conceived as possible. And I can't say any more without a huge shoutout to corporate sponsor* (and very patient husband- good thing it is golf season!!) Fay Dental Care/Dr. John Fay. I am so grateful!
Mark August 15 on your calendar for release!
I am now working on getting my website and social sites ready for the release, and meanwhile writing and recording with Aaron our new project- a full concept CD to be released next summer. Two of ten songs are already almost done in this cool electronic/symphonic alternative dream pop vibe. Haha- I am still chasing to define my genre!! *Incidentally, I am going to be creating a variety of sponsorship opportunities for this project. I will share more later. But please know I appreciate all levels of patronage and support, and I thank you again for all you have done for me in the past!
Finally, mark your calendars for a gig or two coming your way if you are in Northeast Wisconsin! I love to sing to my friends!
