Ten days ago I lost my voice. UGH! And this past week's schedule included three concerts and a recording session! I desperately whispered prayers for "that miracle" - the one we have all begged for to solve a problem that is really huge for us at the moment but in the grand scheme of things is pretty nominal. "Please-oh-please- Give me my voice back!" I had so looked forward to singing for you all, creating new music, the experience with the band...
Well, that particular miracle did not come through, but an even more enchanting miracle did happen. It was the miracle of awareness: Awareness of the depth of the fabulous people I have on my team. For the concerts, my band brought their "A-Game" with great attitude, versatility and exceptional chops. Greg, Mick, Andy, James and Bob are AMAZING. And sound technician Sonic MD/Danny Collins gave me the best circumstances to "croak out" what I could, and also queued up my new recordings and played them interspersed among our live tunes. They sounded fantastic! What a privilege to give a "sneak preview" to my fans! Which brings me to producer/sound engineer Aaron, who rocks! The new songs we have finished turned out even better than I could have imagined. And he and I made the absolute best of the voice I had during our studio session yesterday (did I mention that right now that my laryngitis-riddled voice can sing lower than most men?? Haha- we took advantage of that!!). So basically, the miracle I asked for didn't arrive, but in this past week I found an even better one!
I send you wishes for many miracles, and for your awareness of them everyday! xo
